The Bygone sits on the 29th floor of 400 International Drive. It is a ten-minute walk from the Inner Harbor, well above the pedestrian level of the waterfront. The room runs smart and elegant, serving contemporary, modern, and South American cuisine. It holds a Wine Spectator Excellence Award.
Most restaurants near the water lean into the noise of the piers, but this room ignores the harbor’s rush entirely. Choosing a table here is a gamble on height over proximity; while you are further from the National Aquarium than the casual bistros lining the promenade, the distance offers the only silence you will find in this part of town. It is a better choice for a long, quiet meal than the crowded tourist spots at sea level, where the focus often drifts toward the passing ships rather than the bottle list.
